HiFi-Berry installation

Configure device tree overlay file

Load correct device tree, edit /boot/config.txt:

$ sudo nano /boot/config.txt

Add following line for DAC+ standard/pro:

dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus

Reboot.

For the other HiFi-Berries:
DAC/DAC+ Light: dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac
Digi/Digi+: dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi
Amp/Amp+: dtoverlay=hifiberry-amp

Check if sound card is available

Type this command to check if sound card is available, and note the “card” number:

aplay -l

Configure ALSA

Create /etc/asound.conf with this content and the appropriate number after “card” from the “aplay -l” output list.

$ sudo nano /etc/asound.conf

Then type:

pcm.!default  {
 	type hw card 0
}			
ctl.!default {
 	type hw card 0
}			

Ctrl-X to quit and save. Reboot.

On desktop choose Menu->Preferences->Audio Device Settings->Sound card and choose snd_rpi_hifiberry_dacplus (Alsa mixer). Then push button Make Default.

Reboot.
