Manage files

Midnight Commander

Managing files in console may be tedious when dealing with large amounts of files and different directories. Consider checking out “Midnight Commander” (official site) which is a visual file manager similar to “Norton Commander” from the DOS days, or “Total Commander” for windows or “Path Finder” for osx.

Install Midnight Commander:

$ sudo apt-get install mc

Raspbian console

Move/rename file/directory

$ mv sourcefile destinationfile

$ rm filename

$ cp sourcefile destinationfile

Delete folders

$ rmdir /folder/

Delete folder and content

$ rm -rf /folder/

Get current directory
