Omxplayer is a program for playing video and audio on the command line of the Raspberry Pi. It was developed as a testbed for the XBMC Raspberry Pi implementation and is quite handy to use standalone. Recommended encoding is H264 MPEG-4.
$ omxplayer videoFile.mov
Hello video is a video decode demo using OpenMAX IL through the ilclient helper library. Hello Video has no sound output. It is located in this folder:
The README file in the folder ‘/opt/vc/src/hello_pi’ tells you to “build the libs” before you can compile the ‘video.c’ file. Build the libs like this:
$ cd /opt/vc/src/hello_pi $ make -C libs/ilclient $ make -C libs/vgfont
From the folder ‘/opt/vc/src/hello_pi’ compile the hello_video program:
Now you have the file ‘hello_video.bin’ in the ‘hello_video’ directory. This program can only play videos in binary h264 format. Encode video in bluray h264 format from e.g. Apple Compressor. To test it type:
$ ./hello_video.bin test.h264
For looping check here.
